Originally, I did not like it that much, I found it rather very boring, until I watched it for the second time alone, without friends. A performance that has no weak moments. The Island of Cats is pretty damn good piece of art, it took my breath!. You do not need to like Drama films to enjoy time spent on watching this film. Director once again delivered us great piece of art. The acting is really gorgeous, bringed to life characters that are rich in details and complex. When a film makes all of its scenes so influential that you don't want to pick your favorites, you know it is just a great movie. In conclusion The Island of Cats is just absolutely awesome, that's why it is considered one of the 5 greatest movies of all time. It is one of the few movies of the past years that really deserve to be seen multiple times.... Show more
What happens in The Island of Cats
Seventy years certain Daikichi life widowed on a small island with his beloved cat. He is a local native, enjoys at home and spend time with the cat and old friends. His own son did what many local young people. Son moved to Tokyo. However, the change is permanent and friends die of old age, the environment is changing and age creeps up and makes infirm. The old man has to deal with this change.
